I am new to revit. bare with me if this is a naive question.

A lot of research is done, but somehow I find it difficult to understand.

Here is the scenario

company a : main contractor (using revit)

company b : mep company (using revit)

company c : sub system supplier (using autocad)

Here is the workflow.

  1. company a and b are using shared coordinates in revit. and company a exports a nwd using shared coordinates for everybody to use. company b is also using it for clash detection. so it has to be shared coordinates.
  2. company c are expected to create a dwg based on the nwd. the dwg and nwd will need to be matched in navis for company c to proceed its work.
  3. company a will need to bring in the company c's AutoCAD model to do a federated model in revit and export a federated nwd.
  4. the cycle will repeat

Here are two questions.

  1. how company c figure out where is the origin to model in AutoCAD ?
  2. how company a make sure the AutoCAD model can be merged in revit effortlessly ?
