Collaboration

Hello, we will be starting a project with an architecture firm, we are an architecture firm as well that specializes in exterior envelope work, the other firm will be working on the interior work.  They are producing the overall revit model.  My question is what is the best practice since we will both have two separate models since we will be producing our model of the exterior work and they will be producing their model of the interior work.  we would take their overall revit model and extrapolate the exterior work.  how would we coordinate any changes, door schedules, etc.

it all boils down to communication. Lots of Communication....

  • you can use BIM360 Design to help collaborate.
  • you can create schedules that has "Include items in Links"  checked so you can see each others content (Door schedules, Window schedule s, etc....).

  • you can also set up Coordination views in your models. these views can be used in the Visibility Graphics Overrides > Revit Links. this is useful to make your views look similar. you can set your first floor plan to use there first floor plan for its view settings.

i'm sure others will chime in with there ideas too.
