Collaboration on Revit Educational Version – Solutions with Dropbox, Drive, or Others?

Hi everyone,
I’m working on my thesis with a group of classmates, and we’re trying to find an effective way to collaborate on a Revit model. We all have the educational version, so we can’t use Revit Cloud Worksharing.

We’ve tried following various tutorials, but we haven’t been able to find a solution that actually works. Our idea was to use Dropbox, Google Drive, or other cloud storage services, but we’re not sure if there’s a proper method to avoid file conflicts or data loss.

Has anyone experienced working collaboratively on Revit in a similar situation? Is there an effective workflow to manage files without issues? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can in fact use Revit Cloud Worksharing. BIM Collaborate Pro licenses are now free for educational use. This will give you access to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC).

Thanks for your reply! I checked, but it seems that BIM Collaborate Pro and Cloud Worksharing are not included with the educational license. From what I found, the educational access only includes Revit and some other Autodesk software, but not the full Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) services needed for Revit Cloud Worksharing.

Did I miss something?

The university or school you are studying at has to apply for it (and they manage it)...then they add you to the cloud project as or when needed. ie: Contact your educator or IT person at your school to be given access (See screenshot below and link for more info)

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, my university doesn’t have a license for Cloud Worksharing, so it looks like we’ll have to manually copy and paste changes between models... unless there’s another solution i can consider.

They or their IT or your Professor can simply contact Autodesk and you will get the access...The process is not that complicated if your University is already recognized by Autodesk (thats how you got the educational license the first place)

There is not. While some may seem to work, you will eventually probably run into problems and usually at the most inopportune time,
