COBIE.Type.Length , COBIE.Type.Width, COBIE.Type.Height is always empty

Hi Guys,

I have been trying to populate COBIE.Type.Length, COBIE.Type.Width, COBIE.Type.Width for any element like Walls, Windows and Doors in my Revit Model. The values are always empty. I have also tried parameter mapping still no luck.

Can anyone tell or guide me where am i going wrong in the process, please?

Parameter Mapping always seems to be a little confusing. I will try to break it down here:

By default, when you export a COBie spreadsheet from the COBie Extension, it will (mostly) look at the COBie parameters to get the data and write to the spreadsheet.

When you use Parameter Mapping, you are telling the COBie Extension to ignore the COBie parameters and use your parameters. So it has nothing to do with filling out the COBie parameters. It skips them entirely. It will look at your mapped parameter for the value when creating the Excel file.

To your original question about why some parameters are not populating - this is just how the tool works. Only some parameters fill in automatically. Those are on the Update function. The other parameters are there for users to determine how to fill them out manually, or maybe with Dynamo or something. Then on export the data from those fields gets written to the Excel file.

COBie Extension has no way to know how to populate the dimension parameters. That data could come from multiple locations depending on the element it is reviewing. Those fields are not auto-populated and need users to fill them out manually to have values.

@JasonKunkel

That was really brief.

Thanks
