Clean Up before Update

Before updating an r2019 project to r2022 I want to do some cleanup.    Can anyone comment about the following:

  • Selecting files to bring to update:  There are many files I'd just like to archive, not bring along into the new project.   Looks like everything has to be updated.    Is best practice to create an "Archive" folder and park everything there.
    • I am guessing that will force them to be updated, but at least they are organized.
    • i notice one can download thru 3dots.  I think I'll do so, then delete for files that aren't probable to re-use.
  • Renaming:   Using the 3 dots on hover, when renaming, are all linked files (in and out) updated?
    • I just tried it - the newly renamed .rvt project seems stayed put in the site plan into which it was linked.   Looks like renaming is OK to the revit linking.
  • Duplicating:   While design options are nice, I want to copy a structure that will be linked into the same site plan as the original.    Does the 3 dots / copy (.rvt) have the same coordinates and is waiting to be linked?   Already linked and need to turn revit link off&on?
    • my guess the duplicated structure will come in to the same co-ordinates in the site plan as the original, then i can just turn the links on and off with a view template.
