Hi! The material parameters on the picture dont work? If that so, you need to edit the family and add a material parameter to the geometrys

You can learn that here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2018/EN...

In the project, select the family and check on the properties palette if the Material Parameter is there (it could be an instance parameter)

If not...Edit the family >> select the 3D elements of the shower >> on the properties palette in Family editor, click the button on the right to associate the Material to a Parameter (Instance or Type to your choice) >>> Reload to the project and overwrite

...and if your "Chrome" Material isn't "chromey" enough for you, open up your Project's Material Browser and edit your "Chrome" Material's Appearance Asset.  Choose another Asset to replace the existing Asset shown.   There are several Chrome Assets to choose from. Just type "Chrome" in the Asset Browser Search Bar to see them all.  Test Render each one of them to find one you like.

NOTE: If you are using Revit 2020 or later, the Asset Thumbnails without an orange triangular mark in the upper corner are the new and improved PBR Materials.

Hi,

in some of these families from BIMObject the "Material main" and "Material secondary" fields are confusing. They are only text information - they don't change the material properties of the object (visibility and render material). To change the visibility of the material, you have to:

  • open the family in family editor
  • select 3D object and open it's material property. You will see one of parameters such as BOS_9_Material - see image below
  • than you open Family Types editor, find BOS_9_Material parameter and change this parameter. You will have to change multiple parameters to change materials of all parts of the shower

It's quite tedious task, not as straightforward as I would like it to be. Also be advised that in plan views and elevations this family will not show material, because in 2D view it's represented by Masking Region. It is not possible to change the color of masking region. This is also unfortunate in my opinion.
