Changing Door Swing Changes Door Size

Hi everyone! When I am trying to change the door swing from standard 90 degrees to 45 degrees or other angle, the size of the door itself changes (gets smaller or larger) instead of the swing changing - it stays the same. I have multiple door families loaded into Revit and it happens to all of them. Is there a trick that can stop this from happening? Thanks!

Probably because the door swing is a static detail.

Post the family.  Let's see.

...examine this Door Family and see how the Door Swing in Plan View is controlled via  "45" and "90" Yes/No Visibility Parameters under "Graphics" in the Family Types dialog box.

This is one of the families that is being stubborn. The graphics dialogue looks different compared to the family that you attached to your first response...

Try this one.

Note "Door Swing in Plan View" Detail Item Family and "Open 45 Degrees" Parameter.

...also, albeit unrelated, note your sizing under each Door Type. Some Types are wrong.  FWIW.

Unfortunately, nothing changed. Maybe I am changing the angle at a wrong place? I am just typing "45" instead of "90" in Graphics under Swing Angle. Should I do something else instead?

The one I posted is not associated to those parameters. Check the "Open 45 Degrees" Instance Parameter.

The Family that you posted has an embedded family for the swing and that is causing an error within the family as evidenced by the error dialog when trying to edit the swing angle while in the family:

Editing the swing in the embedded family provides you with a list of items that are causing conflict and/or being affected by the conflict:

Tracking all of that down and/or rebuilding that family is more time than I have available, but perhaps this info will help you do so.

Interesting. I'm having no like issue with the family I revised for you. Seems to work peachy-keen. No Errors or Warnings. Nothing to troubleshoot.

Here's the Family inside a Project.  Let me know if it is wiggy for you.

BTW: where do you see, in all those Warnings, anything that pertains to the "Door Swing in Plan View.rfa"? That's the family I nested in to replace your original swing family.   You can delete the original swing families entirely from the Browser if you like. It will have no impact on the Family.

@mcebanThat family, and I assume the others that are also misbehaving will need some work  to get them to operate the way you want them. A quick look at the family and I saw that the plan swing family doesn't have a reference line to drive the door swing angle. That'll need to be fixed first.

This site has a great tutorial on making your own door swing family. Please check out the other articles on doors to get information on creating the other parts of your door that might not be working correctly.

@barthbradley : Our posts crossed up. My post was started before you replied with an altered version, then I was pulled away, then I got back and finished my post and sent it. It was purely in regards to the original family (and, unless the page did a refresh on me at the wrong time and caused an error, it should read as a reply to the OP).
