Changing blue glass window to grey - still blue in project

Hi,

I'm trying to grey out my elevations so I just went into the window family and changed the glass from blue to light grey:

so I load it into the project and it's still blue!   :

Change the material in project, not family.

I changed the material to a glass called "light grey" and then changed to "use render appearance". These settings have no colour to them so there should be no blue colour once it is loaded into the project

Thank you ToanDN, I have learnt something here, but I don't quite understand it. I thought if I edit the family and then load it back into the project it would bring those settings in, especially as it says something like "load settings and parameter values..". It doesn't bring the light grey material in. I did what you said and changed the glass in the project to light grey glass and it worked. So when I load families, why is it not loading their materials with them? And if its not loading altered materials with the family each time I edit the family, how does it know what the materials are the first time the family is loaded?

If the material did not exist in project then loading the family in would bring the material in. If the material already exists in project then Revit will use the definition in project instead of in the family.
