Change Wall material visibility in different views with visual style Realistic with edges set

I have an existing wall with the material set as masonry and the visual style is set to Realistic with edges set and the phase set to Existing. In my existing 3D view the wall appearance is fine. I have another 3D view with the phase set to New and again the visual style is set to Realistic with edges. In this view i want to fade the appearance of the walls so new items in this view (Phase set to New) will stand out from the existing elements which will be faded.

If i have my Graphics set to Shaded this is easy by using filters or overriding graphics in view by element. The only option i have managed so far is to change the transparency in my proposed view but this is not what i want.

Is there any way to change the appearance of an element so it's different in my proposed view to my Existing view when the visual style is set to Realistic with edges. I need to differentiate between existing walls and new walls in my proposed view.

I am using Revit 2022 so not the latest version..

Really hope there is a solution for this

Thats because in Realistic views, filters and overrides do not affect the Render Appearance image assigned to a material. It’s hard to say whether any workaround will give you exactly the graphic representation you’re after, but here are a couple of options:

Minimalistic Approach: Use a Phase Filter
This method will allow you to differentiate elements, but keep in mind that the existing walls will not display their render appearance image. Instead, they will appear with a simple surface pattern.

Alternative Approach: Use Design Options
This method involves creating a Design Set with two options for the existing walls:

  1. Create the Design Set

  2. Add two Options

    • Design Option 1: Place the existing walls here with their actual render appearance/material (Primary).

    • Design Option 2: Place duplicates of the existing walls here but with modified render appearances—for example: Duplicate the material and its asset >> Assign a different image (e.g., gray brick instead of red brick in the primary option) Or apply different shading, fading, or tinting—whatever creates the desired visual distinction.

Once that’s set up, create a new 3D view (e.g., label it Presentation). Go to Visibility/Graphics and set this view to use Design Option 2. Voilà you now have an overridden Render Appearance image.
