Good morning, everyone.
I have a windows schedule, and we don't have the final measurement so we need to change the dimension for TBD.
I know there's not an easy way to do this on Revit, but I need a workaround.
Thanks!

You cannot do this as the Width, Height, etc. are dimensional constraints and reporting parameter information.
You could grey out the text and add the Comments Parameter Field with TBC
or
You could create new dummy Schedule based on this window Schedule and add dummy Text Parameters replicating the Width, Height, etc. where you can add in TBC and swap schedules on the sheet when the dimensions have been finalised.
Tried greying out the text with conditional formatting, but it only allows me to change background color and not text color. There's a way?
Simply create a new Text Style which is Grey in Colour and Apply it to the Schedule
But how do I grey out only the instances with the TBD comment?
I'll change every cell doing that IIRC
You cannot edit individual Cells unfortunately
You could use conditional formatting to highlight TBC Cells but its not a full solution but you can apply it to more than one parameter so Window Name could be related to the "comments" Parameter's in that row"
Other than taking a screenshot of an excel sheet edited as needed and Imported into Revit in a drafting view and dropped on a sheet.
Just hide the colume, add a new text calculated value parameter to the schedule and enter "TBD" in the formula box.
Its a pain to do but you only have to do it once but you can use the Same condition for All Parameters and if comments is TBC it applies a Colours to All cells that use the Same Condition
Only way to achieve this is use key schedule.
Create new parameters and set them to text and add to the key schedule
For the key schedule, you create a list what type of door sizes you want to display
Select the door and set them to key schedule
When you schedule, you should see value placed in the schedule
It doesn't. Key schedule is just another data that can be manipulated based on set conditions. Even if the door is 3'-0" in reality, the key schedule is just type in whatever value you like. Yes I would love to have Revit ability to report real value combine with text. However key schedule is the only way to achieve this for now but they are just a dummy value. Hopefully in the future those real world value can combine with text value.
Thank you for the reply!
This is my worry even when creating dummy parameters in standard Schedules as I suggested is that we are filling a model with information that could at any point be out of date and incorrect and issued (and don’t get me started on Door or Window Legends!!!)
I agree and hope Revit developers see the need to develop better schedule capability without resorting to work around.
I agree with both. I got a even more rudimentary solution for this: just put an opaque TBD over the schedule on sheet. That fills my boss's needs and the rest of the schedule works as intended. I don't like it, but I can't keep losing time on this.
Thank both of you for your answers!
Would having a 0 value work, if so this can be done intelligently.
Add a Project Parameter to the door category that is a Yes/No value (instance based probably mine is called TBD)
In the schedule add that field and the width field
Do a calculated value with a formula if(TBD, 0', Width)
Hide the Width column and use the calculated value, when TBD is checked for the window it reads 0 uncheck it and actual width is displayed. Sometimes explaining a new intelligent way is acceptable when the company has less liability.
