Change Default Section View Crop Region

Whenever I cut a section in plan view, the default view for the section is from below the floor of the building to 4' above the floor (see attached image). My view range in floor plan is cut at 4' with the bottom at 0'. Is there a way to change the view of the section to have a certain height every time without changing the view range in floor plan. I don't like having to adjust the crop region every time I cut a section.

Hello, @Anonymous,

Changing the default value is not possible to my knowledge.

What I always use is a scopebox.

You can create 1 or more scopeboxes in your project at any size you need.

When you created 1or more sections select all of them and link them to your scopebox all at once.

I would really like to hear from you if this will solve your problem or if you have any more questions.

For all other Forum members, it would be nice if you mark the reply as a “Solution” when it answers your question.

Good Luck,

@N.Oomen

How can you use a scope box for sections if they are allover the place?

@Anonymous

Not sure why your section cut so low.  Normally, a section initially extends 4' below and 4' above the geometry visible in the view.

Hello @ToanDN,

Sections are mostly placed across the whole building or wing of a building. To me every building or wing should have at least 1 scopebox. We use those for floor plans, sections and elevations.

On the other hand details are more all over the building and as you are suggesting it would be hard to use scopeboxes then.

Hope this puts it into perspective.

Good luck,

Niels Oomen
