I'm trying to model the back of a chair to have different back options
I have tried doing internet searches, but it is very confusing
I am guessing that these are type parameters
my level of revit is very basic, I am so stuck (grrr)
could you please help me understand how and what I need to do
Thanks

….. hi ... got you. I understand ... I will be using one that I have to show you the steps
… let me explain the easy way
….. grab any family chair
…. Copy the back of the chair several times in a row (as many as you want)
…. (I will be creating/using 4 types)
…. Draw with voids or extrusions the shapes that you want to have
…. Choose front elevation
… on the modify tab - properties
… click on Family Types
…. Click in new parameter
…. In the parameters properties choose family
… write a name for the parameter
…. Common discipline
…. Yes/no as a type
…. Graphics as a group
…. Make it Type ….. and click OK
….. repeat the same process for as many types you will be creating
….. to associate family parameters click on one chair (it will turn blue)
….. in graphic check visible and open this small icon/link (in the picture)
….. it will open the associate family parameters dialog
…. Chose as the picture Model 1
… and click OK
….. repeat the process for the others … and click OK
…. Now grab each and every one of those chairs and move them to the same central reference plane as the main one
…. Save it …. You got your chair
…. Now open a new project and load the chair
…. In the project you can choose from all type models
… click on the chair… edit type…. Type properties…. Ok … etc….
