hi - Is there a reason why my columns and beams are gray and not the color of the material I assigned to them?
Video >>
Ahh, but they are "existing" is there a way to have existing structural framing inherit the material color or is it the nature of how Revit treats "new" vs "existing"?
thanks
They are the same beam and column as the colored ones. They show in gray because the view's phase filter overrides existing components to be display in gray. Just do what I suggested and they will show in colors.
Phase filter is already "showing complete"
Also, 2nd image shows that the other piece of framing is highlighted and is "existing", yet shows the correct color, not gray
The structural framing families have an instance parameter for structural material, is it assigned to the correct material?

Is [Softwood, Lumber] material also assigned to colored members? If so, check View filters list and see if any filter overriding structural members.

No, it's a different material. When I apply softwood lumber it works fine, but that doesn't help me understand the reason the softwood shows as gray.
Now I am confused. What different material? Your previous screenshot shows a gray member using Softwood, Lumber material. Are you saying it is not? Maybe it's time to share your actual model here.
sorry, you are correct.
The most recent screenshot was of a different piece of timer than the first. I'm using different materials for my 4x6 beams vs. try 2x Materials. So, ignore the previous reply.
attached is the .rvt file.
No dice, plus it was already associated with "softwood..."
The view I'm in is 3d AGACAD. I feel like it's a view setting, but have no idea what it is.

That definitely solves some of it, but it doesn't explain why they are gray and the others aren't when "complete" is the phase filter. Shouldn't they all look the same? Can you elaborate on the why?
Also, doesn't solve it for ALL of the members. Some still stay gray. See video
You have two phase filters: Show Complete and Complete (no overrides).
- Show Complete has been modified to override existing elements, hence the gray existing beams. I don't know the reason why this filter has been changed that cause all sorts of confusions but whatever.
- Complete (no overrides) does not override anything, show existing beams are shown with the original material.
