ceiling grids

For some reason in my reflective ceiling pan view when i try to add a
ceiling grid i get the "no smoking" symbol. There are no grids in it yet,
and grids are turned on under VG. Any clue why it's not letting me place
ceiling grids????

Thanks,
John Gray

The height of the ceiling may be above the top of your walls.

Example: ceiling @ 10'-0", top of walls @ 8'-0"

I realize this post is several years old but I am having a similar issue. Revit allows me to add a ceiling to some rooms but not others. I checked the ceiling and wall heights, so I don't think that's the problem. (I'm a new user - still in school.) Thanks in advance!!

@Anonymous

Did you create the ceiling using Automatic Ceiling or Sketch Ceiling tools?  Sometime when Automatic Ceiling fails, just use Sketch Ceiling and Pick Walls or Pick Lines to draw the boundary.

By the way, the original thread is older than Jesus riding a dinosaur, so the issue may not be the same.  If I were you I would start a brand new thread.

Thanks for your help! I did end up sketching it and it worked fine. I'm still trying to learn all the tips and tricks in Revit, so I appreciate all the help I can get! I am also new to this site, so I appreciate your suggestion to start a new thread as well! 🙂
