I am ending up with some of my light fixtures and overhead door components showing up in my floor plans. I have done some quick digging through models and families, but no luck (when editing family for garage door, plan view in family does not show overhead track and mechanisms but plan view in project does).
Help with this much much greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Bennett

Maybe you can post the relevant part of your project? Without seeing something it will be guesswork. Could be some visibility settings. Could also be your view range settings.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
In the door families...
1. If they are not set as cuttable, then their full height will show regardless.
2. They may have symbolic lines that show up in plan views.
For the light fixtures...
1. They will show up regardless of position if the view's discipline is set to one of the MEP values.
Here is the family I am working with. It's really great with the exception of showing all of the overhead components in plan. I will also check their web site for any updated version. A process for controlling this myself would certainly be helpful, though.
Thanks!

@bchaney0927 hello, edit your door garage family > go to visibilty setting > untick plan/rcp and save , load again your family. those family you don't want to see in your project plan just change their visibility settings. hope it helps. thanks
Thanks, ennujozlagam, but I need to have the components show up in the ceiling plan views.
Still unsolved.
Hello @bchaney0927
Certain family categories behave differently than other categories example: cut-able vs uncut-able families, casework families, doors ...etc) in such families you need to uncheck the visibility of the 3D and work with 2D symbolic lines to represent them in certain views such as floor planes and false ceiling layouts.
I currently do do not have access to REVIT, but if you are still trying to resolve this issue, I will look into the family you attached and record a screencast for you...if you managed to resolve it already, kindly post feedback/reply and close the thread as solved
