CANT FIND MY REVIT FILE IN MY COMPUTER

I downloaded a revit file from a zip file, worked on it and when i went to save, it told me I had to save it as a new file. I did that and then remmebered i had to extract all the files from that zip file for them to be editable, so i did.

next day comes and I went to search for the new file i had saved but i couldnt find it. so i opened revit by itslef and i was able to find it in recent files. I kept using it that way for about a day until last night. I saved normally and when i went to shut down my computer, it asked me to update it and shutdown and i accepted. That is the only thing i know i did differently. 

today i wet into revit but the file is not in recent files nor my computer. 

does revit have a history folder or like an icloud or recycling bin where i can check if its there?

Do a "save as" and save to a more secure and backed up location.

Do a search in the computer and search for *.RVT file. Then check for the latest date. Afterward just right click and open file location

There is one way to possibly find that default save location... (it's going to be deep in your user files in a temp folder in all likelihood)...
Try to replicate the entire process, just do it very slowly and pay attention to the directory that it takes you to in the save dialog box, that is very likely to be the same location that it took you to previously.
