Cannot see Mass in Elevation

Hello. I have created a mass in place. I can see in plan, 3d view, but not in elevation. I don't want to apply any materials, etc..

Help would be much appreciated. I have attached the file and a screencast.

In a plan view turn on visibility of elevations to see where they are placed in relation to your mass. Probably mass is behind them and taht is why you can not see it.

Revit add-ins: CAD Purger (delete UNUSED and selected line patterns & line styles, find and delete CAD), Rooms To Spaces, Schedule Utilities (Calculated Values/Combined Parameters To Tags, reuse view filter rules in schedule filters), View Filter Manager at Revit Apps Store

Hi vcendoya,

When I look at your file you have two things that you need to check.

1. The size of your Mass volume is really big. 19955000.0 one length, this should be 1000 per meter (units in mm). I don't know how big the mass should be but can't imagine it being this size.

2. BUt also the prior reply is true, because your mass is not even close to your revit 0.0 point your mass is also not visible in the view. Your elevation markers are close to 0.0.

What I would do is rescale your volumes and make sure your mass is somewhere around your 0,0 point.

I would really like to hear from you if this will solve your problem or you have any more questions.
For all other Forum members, it would be nice if you mark the reply as a “Solution” when it answers your question.

Good Luck,

@artejon

I did everything but on elevation I only see a line at zero level, not extruded. I attach screencast and file

You have got a scaling issue. you have imported a site dwg with wrong units, that is why your mass is must be so big.

Import dwg with correct units and size down your mass. You shuould resolve that issue before going further with your design.

You still can not see mass because you have got Far Cliping 'on' in properties of elevations, set it to 'No clip' .

Hi @Anonymous,

I downloaded your file and looked at it again.

Your DWG is fine right now. it has a roofsize of about 16 meters which sounds okay.

Your masses where all over the place. I have rescaled the masses and brought them down and back to 0.0

You should be able to use those masses now.

The mass that you see as lines is basically a mass that isn't finished yet. You have only drawn a contour and didn't create the real volume.

Select the lines, click on Edit in Place, select the contourlines and click on create form-solid form.

Good luck,

Niels Oomen
