you can do it if you:

  • in Project, make a Named Reference Plane to be used as Work Plane Base ( in Elevation View).
  • In family Editor > Family Category and Parameters, uncheck  Always Vertical and check Work Plane Based options, save and load family into Project again.
  • in a Floor Plan Level , select the object > Pick New >Workplane - select as Workplane , the Reference plane made in first step.

Do you know why my family disappears when I rotate my reference plane?

Guys, I managed to get the family to rotate in elevation, but now it won't rotate in plan. This is really annoying. Any way I can just rotate an element in all 3 axes?

After I did that (and thank you BTW) the object won't rotate in plan. Which I need it to. So now what?

Also,

I need a multiple (same family) array of objects on the same level, in multiple angles both in plan and elevation. The method you showed makes it EXTREMELY difficult to do that, since every new angle in plan means a new angle in elevation, and the fact that I can only attach it in 3D (why? for god's sake why? Why not in section???) makes it almost impossible to do.

Please, help!

🙂
