Hi All!
I just loaded a family and wanted to insert the component (fire extinguisher) to my plan view. However, when I select component from architecture I am not allowed to place my extinguisher into the drawing!?

Have you tried to drag and drop the family type from the project browser onto the view?
I cant locate the family. It's a huge project and it'll take me hours to find it that way.

You can just right click on the Families header and Search using the family name.
And, looking for it manually shouldn't take more than one minute, you know the Category of the family - go directly to that Category, expand the tree and scroll to get to it (they are sorted alphabetically, if you haven't noticed).
Maybe it just isn't visible in Plan View and/or the Detail Level of the View. Open the Family and check out its Visibility Settings.
Is it a Wall-Hosted Family? Hover near a Wall and see if you can place it.
...or post the Family.
If the family has host by wall, you may have to go to 3d view and have the fire extinguisher hosted to wall surface.
That circle with diagonal line being shown in your GIF means "No Host Found".
Check to see if these Placement Options are available when you try to place the Fire Extinguisher:
@ahirani24 wrote:@ToanDN thanks for helping out! At times I feel dumb. I have tried doing it the way you are saying, it still doesn't let me paste the item into the model. I have attached a screenshot for your review.
That is a Face based generic model... you have to pick from the Ribbon which FACE you want to place it on

@ahirani24 wrote:@RDAOU you are correct. It was a wall mounted extinguisher. So, that's the reason why I couldn't place it.
"Wall-Mounted" as was mentioned in #8 and #9? Or, are you saying you now seeing Placement Options as was pictured in #10?
