So Ive got a guy working on a project remotely.. after working on the file, he saves it to drop box.. Afterwards, when I attempt to download and open.. it fails.. tells me that the model needs to be upgraded from 2009 or earlier. try to upgrade, and that fails.. we get the message about the original model being created prior to revit 8.1 or something.. Ive had this issue before and got off of using drop box.. So now, I get a "Box" account.. works so much smoother than drop box.. We have transfered several models in our "Box" folder with no issues.. until today..
Can anybody offer a solution to this problem that seems to plague Revit? Should I use Bim360?
That error is when you are using an older Revit build (for example Revit 2021.0) to open a file created under a newer build (for example Revit 2021.2). Update your Revit to the latest available Build. Also, always download the file from Box or Dropbox to your local hard-drive and open the downloaded file.
been there.. my t- shirt has shrunk, or ive grown out of it... maybe both. I just had a converstion with my guy in Michigan.. something apparently happened in the uploading process to Box.. the file was not complete.. He did another upload of the file and i was able to download just fine... sounds like intermittent internet issues..
Thank you Bradley..
Yes.. i know that was the intent of that message... however, it seems to cover more ground than they originally intended..
Ive never tried to open a later version of a file with an earlier version of revit.. or if i did, i know i received this message..
It can be frustrating when the error message has nothing to do with the actual cause of the problem.. sort of like having your "check engine" light come on.. it can mean 20 different things.
Thank you sir
