In the specifical condition that we realize models in Rvt 2020 with steel objects ( in this case structural connection and framing) and we aim to load them as a group or to link and bind into a particular rte template ,already realized, , which pathwork is the best to match the revit project 2020 developed with the new template created ( supposing that we prepare the project before the template)?
1 Load it as a group does not match, warning error says: Cannot load models with steel fabrication elements as group.
2 Insert as a link and than bind does not match: warning error says Unable to bind some link instances. Either the link contains no 3d elements or there was an error loading its elements into the current project.

Hi @Anonymous
We can't group fabrication elements, this is a known limitation in Revit.
Bind command tries to create a group out of all the geometry elements.
Because there are fabrication elements inside the project, the group can't be created.
This is a feature request that might be taken into account in future Revit versions.

I have exactly the same problem, so I "cleaned" my model, erased all connections, all features, all screws, all anchors, all plates in the original Advance Steel model, but it still doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions to that?
I created a simple model with only four beams, and than it worked.
Than I begin to test the original model. First I tried to insert a couple of elements --> worked, than I tried to insert a few more elements --> failed. Is there any quantity limit? Or I simply don't find the "problem item".
I would be really happy if I got some help!
Hi,
so when you apply any element from the steel fabrication ribbon tab, the beam in revit is changed to a steel fabrication type, the process is irreversible, so even if you delete all connections, features etc., the host element is still a fabrication type beam.
this AKN explains this process, it can also be found under the direct Revit help.
if you require several objects connected together then a weld is the best way to turn them into an assembly, as it would be seen for steel fabrication.
hope that helps
