Cannot get a text label in a lighting fixture family to show up in ceiling plan

I have a recessed can family that I would like to show with an "S" subtext in ceiling plan to denote that it is designed for shower/wet locations. I have added a text label in the family plan view and also added a text parameter to the family properties. However, when loading the lighting family back into the building model, I can't get the "S" or even a "?" to show up in the RCP. I don't know if I'm skipping a step and not properly associating the label to the parameter, or if there is some other reason the text won't show up in ceiling plan. Can anyone offer some insight? I can provide the family if necessary. Attached are some images.
