Hello,
I'm importing a corridor (road) from AutoCAD Civil 3D to Revit, the Road imported as a Mass and because it curvy geometry I can't create a Floor by Face on it... But I can create a Roof by Face... I prefer the Floor category instead to use the Roof category, but use de Road category would be better. As I know I'can change the category of a roof.
But, there is a way to create a generic model from a mass or from a mass surface? So that you can assign the category I want to the model in place. Or can I do it creating loadable family at least?

When you import a 3D CAD into Revit, it asks you which category you want (default is Mass, I believe). So, if you want it to be a Generic model then choose Generic Model. Same with a loadable family, you can import it into a Generic Model family and load it into the project.
But if it is not imported as a mass, you cannot create roof/wall/floor by face. It is basically non editable.
I actually import the surface (toposurface) as revit topografy and corridor (road) as a revit mass directly from AutoCAD Civil 3D from Civil Structure Extension. I'm able to create roof by face on the road mass, but can't do the same with floors. Since Site Designer Extension Revit have a Road Category.

It would by great if I can change the category from Roof to Road, but I think is not possible. Is there a family template where I can create a geometry by mass?

@samuelsanf Hi
There are several methods but you won't be able to use floor by face for what you are trying to do...not just due to the curvatures but to the fact the face need to be leveled.
Same applies for switching from a mass to any other category. It won't be allowed directly; however, you can do that indirectly if you explode and export as ACIS (.sat) geometry...then open a generic model family (new) and import the geometry (.sat) therein. Then you would be able to set category to something else as desired. But I wouldn't personally use that for toposurfaces. (I would stick to massing and and roofs by face as the category doesn't really matter much
