Can't see linked IFC steel construction

Dear Forum,

The latest time when I import construction drawings from my partner (.ifczip) in my revit project, everything seems to be imported and loaded. But it aint visible anywhere.

Is there something i am doing wrong?

Regards,

S.

Hi @Anonymous

Hope you are well.

Just a few standard things which you could go through:

  • Does the IFC model appear under you Manage Links >> IFC
  • Is your View Template/s not maybe setup in such a way that IFC models will be "turned off"
  • In your Default 3D View, have you tried to switch everything "on" in your Visibility/Graphic Overrides (VV or VG), then make sure that your Crop Region is active and extended quite a bit in all directions, to see if the Linked IFC isn't somewhere in your Model? (If correct coordinates weren't used/setup).

HERE is also a useful link which you could read through which will possibly assist you.

I hope this helps! Smiley (zwinkernd)

Hello,

The above post from Rudi nicely covers the things that possibly cause it in Revit.

Since I experienced the exact same a little while ago, with something that had nothing to do with Revit, here by my post in case above solutions don't solve the problem.

If you 'partner'is using Tekla for the construction(?), there may be another way to solve the issue. I've noticed that the IFCzip export from Tekla ain't calibrating with Revit perfectly. Some of the models I gain from customers out of Tekla give the issue as you describe. So, first try the solutions from Rudi, if these ain't solving the problem, you can try the following:

  1. Check the IFC in programs like Solibri or a IFC viewer (like Tekla bimsight). If the IFC opens/works at all.
  2. Don't link the IFCzip but start a new template and directly open the IFC into Revit. When exporting as new IFC or saving the rvt with the ifc imported it works fine (for me at least).

Hey rudy.roux,

I tried solutions, but didn't work. It won't show up.

@JvanReij you were right, something wrong with export. When I open in Revit and resave IFC it works properly. In bimsight it was visible.

Thanks both, apreciate it!

Hi guys. I have just discovered the issue.

I don't know why but in some cases, when opening ifc, it gets open with a selected phase in the "Phase creating" box (properties menu). If you change it to "None", everithing appears in the views. I am working in a collaborative team and some of us could see it well and some others not.

Greetings!!
