Can't see beam inside wall when cut in section

I'm currently trying to show the location of a beam inside a wall in a section view, but for some reason the beam is not visible where it cuts through the wall. It exists, and you can see it when either the wall or beam is selected, but for some reason it can't be seen through the wall.

I'm attaching a perpendicular view of the area as well to show that the beam does in fact go through the section and should be showing up, but just... isn't. Both views are at fine level of detail... if i set the view to coarse or override structural framing to show as coarse, then it shows up thanks to the symbolic lines, but it won't work as a workaround since i need to show other structural members in fine level of detail in other parts of the drawing. The family itself is the out of the box W14x22 beam from the Autodesk library. Similar views in the same model show beams perfectly fine.
