Can't override link's mechanical equipment graphics in plan

I'm trying to override the MEP Revit link's mechanical equipment to appear black on the roof plan instead of light yellow so it reads when printed, but overriding the category project line color does nothing.  Tried changing settings per host settings and links settings.  Even our object style is set to black for that category.

@tvetter

Assumption 1 - Families are in the main model:

  • Check the view filters under visibility graphics. If there are filters applied then they take precedence over other overrides

Assumption 2 - Families are in a Linked model:

  • Check the display settings of the Link under visibility graphics >> RVTLnk tab (By Host)
  • Or apply overrides in the Link directly (Set to by Link or Custom)

Are you sure it's a Revit Element? Looks to me like an Imported Element.  If it is, Model Category VGOs ain't going to affect it.

...try TAB-Selecting element and using Graphic Overrides By Element.

Yeah, it's a family element in the consultant's linked Revit model. I guess it could be a imported DWG inside a Revit family for all I know.

If it is an import in a family, it should show up in the visibility Imported Categories tab under Imports in Families and should be able to change the color there.

Imported elements were not visible.  What actually worked was I created a view filter in my view template to override all mechanical equipment to black projection lines.

#2 is correct.  Changing the VG in the linked model does not do anything (or by host). What actually ended working was I created a view filter in my view template to override all mechanical equipment to black projection lines. Not sure why but it did.

Do you know how to do Graphic Overrides in View By Element/Category/Filter?

Select By Category and press this to access the Category:
