Hi, I am new to Revit.
I am having trouble with 3 steel beams in a particular level.
On the level below I was able to join the 4 border beams together. In this level the arrows for joining just don't appear. What could be the problem?

I assume you are using the Mitre Tool from the Modify Panel > Geometry Panel
Also ensure the correction Options Bar settings are ticked!!!
One beam does not look correct in display - it is related to this as the Tool cannot identify a joint between the 2 elements to create a Mitre Joint?
Try using Match Type Properties from the Clipboard Panel from a shaded Beam to this beam
Also Beams have to be on the Same Workplane/Reference Level to allow joints!!
Is the Lighter Beam at a different Level? If so it will not work!!
I recreated the situation with the Start and End offsets 10mm above the reference level at I could replicate the users scenario so it is definitely the issue!
if you look at the image with the Timber Beam and zoom in you can see the beam is not in plane and slightly proud at the corner.
There are columns but there are also on the lower level and I had no issues joining the beams.
I can't solve the problem, I'm attaching a simplified version of the file in another coment
I created the beams several times, they are all on the same reference plane of Level 3, checked that when creating all of them were Secondary type structure and still no success. I'm attaching a simplified version of the model in another comment
Ok, here is the file.
I created the beams over and over again, on different views, deleting the start and end extensions, deleting the timber beams and the column beneath it and still can't join neither of the steel beams of this level.
It appears to be related to all the connections in the Corner, if you apply a Top Offset of say -50mm to the column it then gives a warning about joins which you accept
You then need to move the timber Beam, i increased the z Offset Value from 254 to 3000 and then the Mitre Join Arrows show as expected.
Problem is moving back the column breaks the join, i think this is a limitation in the software - i will investigate further

The only way I can resolve this is by using the Steel Tab > Mitre > Hold Down "CTRL" to select both Beams and then press Enter - (no editing needed to other elements)
See Message #5. The "Cut Beams Back To Reference Plane" Method has been used since Moses wore shorts.
