Can't join roofs

Tried to create this roof various ways but to no avail. Can't join here because I gather the face to join to is actually 3 faces. Any ideas? Tried cutting out the lower section on the large piece after ther join but it won't let me if I edit the sketch.

Why is the roof plane broken up like that? Don't you want it to be a single face?

There created because I used sub elements create the apex line and cut out.
Perhaps there's a better way but I'm not aware of it. The usual method
adjusting the base offers for different pitched lengths is a nightmare if
you've a single roof apex.

By the look of your picture, there is nothing particularly difficult to create it as a sloped roof without even touching sub-elements. Can you share the file?

I'm new to roofs but yes seems fairly simple but the solution alludes me. I've attached the file

Do you want them to join like this?

Great that looks perfect. What method do you use?

See the file attached.  There is a hidden vertical roof for the right side of the dormer to extend to.

Are you trying to get the ridges to all meet up. Easy to do with Modify Sub Elements.

Just 1 roof. The trick to be able to drag the dormer apex to align with the main apex, seems to be setting

[Offset from Roof Base] for the indicatedroof_boundaryline.PNG boundary line to a value other then zero.

I don't think it can be done as one roof. I mis-read the design.  It's got to be 2 roofs.  Maybe you can prove me wrong, @FAIR59 .

Hadn't thought of doing it in one roof with sub elements  that dormer roof is deeper than the larger roof so don't think it'll work as it extends below the largers eave.

Yes you can address the issue like that but trying to match up the three apex' like that is frustratingly hit and miss and doesn't solve all my problems

Thanks for this but I get errors when I try to move or do anything with it

Error 1 Part of the roof to be joined misses the target face.

Error 2 Dormer Opening Cut is not fully defined. Cut was not performed.

Seems to work only temporarily so I'll try and find another way

Solved the issue for now by using sub elements on one roof structure. Works quite nicely with no fudging. Thanks everyone for the help and especially to barthbradley for the idea to just use sub elements and forget about joining two separate roofs
