Can't find the Revit Content Library 2017 on my computer.

Ever since I've installed Revit 2017, I have not been able to find the content library. At first, I found it through "Programs and Features", tried to reinstall it, but ended up deleting it thinking I could reinstall it. When that didn't work, I tried to reinstalled Revit 2017, and that didn't work either - Everything reinstalled except the content library.

Any advice or tips to get my Revit working the way it should?

It most probably didn't install properly the first time...direct install from site or firewall issue...

Try to download the install pack from virtual agent (link in my signature below) extract and install

Make sure Anti virus and firewall are off

You don't have to deinstall Revit, just deinstall the content library.

ContentLibrary.PNG

Then go to Revit 2017 and select Uninstall/Change.

In the installer window, under features (or something like that) you can reselect the content libraries to install.

You just have the library files missing...so no you do not need to uninstall anything At all..

just download>extract>let the installer start>>then select add/remove features

You just need to add the contents/libraries/templates/families..

If there's already a mention of the Content Library in "Program and Features" you need to deinstall this first. Otherwise Revit will think the library is already installed and won't add the files.

After dinstalling the library, run the installer for Revit and choose to add features.

I had same issue when I installed Revit from education community and I didn't uninstall anything

1. I downloaded installation files from virtual agent

2. Extracted them

3. When extraction was complete and installation started I canceled the installation

4. Went back to control panel and started Revit Content Library again and I was able to add the contents

I can't find the content library in the "Programs and Features", yet when I try to reinstall Revit, the install window says I have already have the revit content library. Seriously, can't find it anywhere on my computer. Where could that have installed?

If it is gone from the Windows control panel it means that you de- or uninstalled it which you weren't supposed to do. You were supposed to just download the contents. What you need to do now, is a clean uninstall complete and then reinstall the whole thing again.

uninstalling portions of AUTODESK products has that effect

I'm having the exact same issue as Nicole. I have totally uninstalled and reinstalled Revit, the content libraries, the service packs, etc, multiple times, including deleting temp files, and trying both in a single installation, and in a series of individual installations. I have downloaded the two-part Revit installation package that RDAOU posted, which does seem to elimitate the error message about content libraries not being downloaded, but even then, after I select the libraries (US Imperial, US Metric and Canada, either individually or together), the installation gets through most of its work, and then hangs while the content libraries are being installed. I've been trying everything suggested on this and other forums for the last 3 days and I'm at a total loss. What do I try next?

Did you solve your issue, Nicole?

If you went through the the virtual agent and installation is still hanging it could be 1 of the following...

  1. temp folder is full... Type %temp% in the command run (Windows start menu) and delete all folders and files found therein.
  2. an antivirus/firewall has a process running in the background which not allowing installer to proceed...shut down antivirus/firewall completely during installation. Some similar to AVG for instance are sticky and simply disabling the live scan does not do any good.

ps. Do go back to Windows control panel and uninstall Akamai Netsession client if you previously tried to Webinstall

Thanks for your quick response, RDAOU. I did those steps earlier, but was still having trouble. In the end, I found that the content libraries were, in fact, installed (even though they seemed to hang every time and the computer was reset at that point) but that the locations had not been updated in Revit/options.

For others' reference, here is the thread that helped, in my case: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/forums/forumtopicprintpage/board-id/24/message-id/133894/print-single-...

I wondered about Akamai, too, and am happy to know I can uninstall. Cheers

If that works for you so be it...canceling an incomplete installation doesn't warrant a complete content library...how crucial that is and/or you would run into further issues because of it, only you can determine : o)
