I'm trying to place a dimension in elevation from finished floor to bottom of beam to show clear space - Revit won't pick the bottom of the beam. It will pick the "hidden face" (the dashed line) but that is not the true bottom of the beam so the dimension is incorrect (and makes ugly fractions). I don't want to see the dashed lines in my elevations but if I hide Structural Framing : Hidden Faces I cannot dimension to the bottom edge of the beam at all (tried 10,000x tab-selects). The same behavior happens whether the beam is z-justified top or bottom. My solution is to draw a dummy line the same line weight and snapped to the beam and dimension to that. Now if the beam moves the dimension doesn't change. Is there another way? Seems like something is wrong. v2024

Edit Beam and make geometry visible in Coarse, as well as Medium and Fine.
You know, as an alternative to a dummy line, what about making the Ref. Plane in Family a Strong Reference.
I'm not sure what you mean here - the bottom of the beam is visible, it just can't be picked with a dimension line.
Definitely better than a dummy line. I'll do this, thanks for the suggestion.
