Can't cut toposolid for Building footprint

I have converted an existing toposurface into a toposolid from a model that was in revit 2023. I'm trying to replicate the building pad. First I tried to create a void mass then I created a void Model in Place component and tried to cut the toposurface with both (not at the same time!). Neither one of them would cut. I just kept getting an error message that it wasn't cutting anything and will be deleted.

Anyone else have the same issue and is there a work around? Am I doing something wrong?

In-Place MASS.

...not In-Place Model Component.

....Solid or Void Mass.  Both will work.  Slightly different workflows.  Cut inside In-Place Mass Editing Mode with Void Mass or outside In-Place Mass Editing Mode with Solid Mass and then hide Mass Reference.

You can also, Shape-Edit Surface via Modify Sub-Elements tools.

Hi,

I've tried both suggestions and I still can't get it to work, please see images. The toposolid was created from a toposurface which was created from a 3D dwg survey?

Might it be a problem with the toposolid?

I don't know what the problem is, but I can use that Mass in your Project to Cut another Toposolid created from that Imported CAD in your Project.  Wouldn't that work for you?

What are you referring to?  Are you saying that you are unable to reproduce what I did and showed in my above screenshots?

Hi Barth,

Yes thats correct I am unable to replicate what you managed to do with my model. Is there a setting that I may need to change?

As I said in Message #5, I was unable to cut your Toposolid with your Mass, but I was able to use your Mass to cut a new Toposolid that I created from the "Contours" Layer of the CAD Import in your Project.  That's what my Screenshots are showing.

Now, as for why your Mass doesn't cut the other Toposolid; I don't know. Strangely, if I move your Mass to the opposite side of the Toposolid, it cuts fine.  It just isn't cutting the Toposolid at the location you have it.  Maybe you should report this to Autodesk. I probably would. Toposolids are a brand spanking new feature/function. They never get it right the first time.

See attached.

You're welcome.

BTW: I'm serious about bringing this to Autodesk's attention. To do so, open a support case through your autodesk.manage.com account portal.  My guess is that something in the translation from Toposurface to Toposolid failed.

Anyways, if you do report it, please let us know what they say.  Thanks.  Have a good day!
