Hi.
I have segments at bridge which was generated by Dynamo. I had to add several mass elements to this bridge. Then I need cut this elements according to bridge segments. In some cases Revit can cut it and in some no. It looks like same operation in similar geometry but it does not work. I tried find solution with my friends but we do not have solution for this. I found this advice but it does not help me. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/EN...
Elements are not joined (I think that are not). Segments are created from 2 parts but in final it is one Generic Model everywhere.
Here is link at screencast http://autode.sk/2BjbTbl
Some advice will be helpful.

Hi @Anonymous
I'm re-posting this link HERE regarding the article that explains about the warning that displays when you attempt to cut or join geometry, and the geometry cannot be regenerated properly.

Hi @Anonymous
I apologize for the delay in replying. Here is an update on this issue with a possible workaround.
EndOfBridge.jpg
shows the north end of the bridge as seen from the northwest in a 3D view, along with a section view. IsolatedElements.jpg
shows three elements isolated in the 3D view: Mass element 673627 ("200_02 natiadok dolny") and Generic Models (Bridge Body) 720461 and 720466. Note that the first element is highlighted.
Ii was observed that the first element (673627) has two unacceptably short edges. The short edge in the northeast corner of the element is highlighted in red in ShortEdgeAtNorthEastCorner.jpg
; its length is about 1.2 times Revit's vertex tolerance. A similar short edge occurs in the northwest corner.
The short edges may cause problems with the Cut operation, but I was not able to even attempt the Cut operation for element 673627 with either of the other two elements mentioned above - Revit does not allow me to select the second element, presumably because it does not allow a solid to be cut by another solid (as opposed to a void) in this context.
A possible work-around is to edit the Mass element(s) being used to cut away portions of the bridge, so as to avoid any small gaps or overlaps. If possible, model the Mass elements without using very small features such as the clipped corners mentioned above.
Let me know if this helps resolve your issue.

Hi Viveka
Thank you for reply. How big is value of Revit's vertex tolerance?

Hi @Anonymous
In general, the limit is 1/32 inch, or about 0.8 millimeters.
would you like to know more about the syntax for the enforced minimum length for any curve created by Revit?

Hi Viveka
Information that is 0,8mm is enough. Thanks for picture. I changed surface of connection for main bridge segment (I moved it up) and now it is working OK. So probably main problem was this. But information about that minimum of length was also helpful. Thank you and have a good day.

Hi Viveka.
I have two Generic elements, one acts as bridge tower top, the other one acts like cables (stays). I had to let the cables go through the tower top to make them fixed to it. Then I needed to cut or let these two elements joined, but each time this error is shown up (Can't cut joined element: Type: Generic Models: Cables : Cables : id 656689). I've tried to find solution on both YouTube and google, yet I had no idea how to solve it, so, I am contacting with you now. Here is a screen capture of my work. I am looking forward for your answer.
Gamil.
