Can't choose desired beam for beam system

Trying to make some simple beam systems for flat roofs and intermediate floors

However the open web joist family doesnt show up as an option on the beam type drop down

It's the best open web joist BIM object I've found, but you just cant put it into a beam system! Is there a setting in the family that needs changing to make it an option for a beam system?

you can download it from the NBS here: https://www.nationalbimlibrary.com/en-gb/sips-eco-panel-systems/space-joist/?lo=en-GB

That family was originally modeled using a Generic Model Line Based family template...Then its category was changed to structural framing. Therefore, the Beam System will not list/identify the family although its category is Structural Framing.

What you can do is

  1. Start a new Structural Framing Family using the OOTB framing .rft
  2. Nest that family from NBS into a Structural Framing Family >>>
  3. Align and lock >>
  4. associate parameter as needed >>
  5. reload into the project.

Then it will be possible to set it up in a Beam System See GIF below
