Can't change material in generic model? HELP PLEASE!

Hi guys,

I'm trying to change the materials on this Revit light from BIM Object and I need the material to be a white plastic, instead it is coming through as a rusted steel and I cannot for the life of me change it. I've tried everything I know!

Any help would be super appreciated!

Cheers,

Jacob

Here's what you need to do

1) Open the family. Click on light and then click on Edit Family

2) Manage>>Object Styles.

3) Create Subcategories based on the materials that you would like

4) Assign materials to each Subcategory. You can select new materials from the Appearance tab. Make sure to check Use Render Appearance.

5) Select parts of the fixture and assign to Subcategories in the Properties

6) Load into the destination family

7) Load into Project

Hey Jacob,

First I clicked the top ring in a 3D view. Then I clicked the Query button. Then I clicked the top ring again. I could see that it has a Layer/Level name of "metalserv". I then went to, Manage and Object Styles. Clicked the Imported Objects tab and there it was. To the far right you will see Material. From there you can change the finish. I have attached a few screen shots to help you out.

Good question!

Let me add one piece to the information from @Anonymous - click the Use Render Appearance checkbox - that is unchecked in your materials.
