Can't attach walls to custom roof...

I made a custom roof with a mass and reference lines. However when I try to attach the walls to the roof it doesn't work for two of the walls and gives an error message. I don't know why and my first draft of the roof which almost had the same shape could connect to all of the walls.  The file is attached, see below. Thanks!

You just need to select the right roof on top of the wall … they all attach fine see screencast https://autode.sk/2urcdqO

Haven't looked at the file, but I've encountered something like that before when the join with roof angle was too steep I think. I just used edit sketch&join on those walls then.

I've attached it to the roof above the wall which I suppose is the right
wall. Or maybe I'm wrong?

Ah - I'm getting the replies through my mail and didn't see the
screenshots! Sorry! Yes the inner walls all attach nicely, but two of the
outer walls don't. It's the two wich have a weird cut in them (tried to
solve it by not have the walls joined and etc.). Thanks for the responses!

Having another look at the Revit file, the mass you have created is slightly off axis. You need to fix the alignment of the roof for the walls to join properly.

Waiting for the screencast to upload; here is what I did:

  1. Place reference planes around the exterior walls offset = overhang
  2. Edit the  in-place mass
  3. Delete all ref. lines, points and mass
  4. Place and align new points at all corners of the bottom face of the current roof
  5. Align the above points in plan view to the reference planes created in 1 above
  6. Open the elevations and align the heights of the points to reference planes
  7. In 3D - use Spline through points to connect the points in pairs
  8. Create forms
  9. Finish  in-place mass
  10. Delete old roof
  11. Create new roof by face
  12. Attach walls

Nice, I probably had that same issue with the alignment then that time...

The walls in my model (much simpler roof) do not behave the way your screen cast shows.  If my wall is entirely under one section of roof, they attach just fine, but if the wall passes under a hip, or valley, or in this case a pitch break, it just gives the awful orange "Can't keep wall and roof joined" error.  I can see in your screen cast that you extend the wall to one roof, and then extend the wall again to the next section of roof, but my model won't attach any portion of the wall to either roof.  This model was imported into a Generic Component from a Sketchup file.2022-10-09 17_21_28-Autodesk Revit 2023 - [Mulreed.rvt - 3D View_ {3D}].jpg
