Can Revit text not print. Like defpoints in AutoCAD

I was wondering if anyone had a way to have text show up on the screen, but not print.

We are putting notes on a drawing for reference and we don't want them to print.

I would relate it to putting notes on the defpoints layer in AutoCAD.

Any ideas?

Make a copy of the view and put the reference notes there.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

@Stephm419

Aside from put them on different view, which is a good practice to keep the plot sheets clean, there are some workarounds:

1. Use a dedicated text type and run a Dynamo script to turn it off before print, then turn it back on after print.

2. Also, use a dedicated text type, edit the type before print and make it transparent, change the a minuscule size, (254,254,254) color.

Making another view is one way.

But I would like to try the Dynamo tool.

Thanks

Before printing, you could easily select all reference notes and Hide In View. After printing you easily unhide all the notes.

The solution here is not a solution. Revit needs a functionality for bringing vital behind-the-scenes information to the designer's attention while they are in their model. It should be something different from normal text, with a toolbar in Revit's ribbon to make use of "Note To Designer" and it should include tables for sizings, linework somehow, and of course text. Anyone who has ever edited a CSI specification section before may be familiar with "blue text". This is accessed with the ¶ button in MS Word. This contains critical information to architects and engineers, likely added after the company got in trouble for not remembering to check something or show something.

As we are beginning to fully adjust to Revit and develop all of our families and standard details in Revit, we are greatly missing the ability to tuck this information away. Storing in the family is not an option. Creating a dynamo system is really not an ideal option either - kind of goes against the true purpose of Dynamo.

One more note to add is that this is not coordination information that could be scheduled with parameters or something. This is a note directly to the designer that outside companies or disciplines should really not be able to see unless they open the discipline model.
