As far as I can tell, model lines placed in a model view can only be horizontal (parallel to the view), and can only be located at the level that the view is associated with. I'm wondering if this is really true, or if it's possible to place a model line that is offset from (i.e. above or below) the level of the view, or that is nonhorizontal.
The basic goal here is to have more flexibility in making model lines visible. Without this, model lines are often hidden by elements above them such as floor areas that are even a bit above the level of the view.

Model Lines appear in 2D and 3D Views.
They can be placed onto a Workplane--Architecure Tab>Workplane>Set
Then place the Model line.
can be used Work Planes - Levels, Reference Planes or Faces , as shown in my screencast:

If you want model lines to float above the floor you drew them on - without having to create workplanes or use another surface - you can simply group them, then offset the group by the desired height in the properties window. You can ungroup them afterwards. I hope this helps.
So the response is a bit late, but the workaround that I use is to place the Model Line. Then copy that line with Constrain turned off. Remove the original line. Copy works, but not move...
Hope this helps!
