Callout on floorplan doesnt look like floorplan its placed on

Hello all, hopefully I can explain this right.

I created a floorplan of the ground floor that I cleaned up and have gone through and placed wall type tags on every wall.

Now I want to put a portion of that view with all the wall tags on a sheet. So I've made a callout of that section, but on the callout view, it looks nothing like the way I've set the floorplan. It doesn't show the wall tags and it still shows all the framing members that I've hidden so that this could be a clean wall tag print.

How do you make a callout that looks exactly like what is sketched around? I've attached views to better explain.

On the floorplan you can see its cleaned up and has the wall type tags. But on that callout I've drawn on there, it does not look like that.

When you create a new view from a call-out, none of the annotation and visibility/graphics settings transferred from the parent view. For the annotation, you can copy and paste from the parent view to the call-out view. For the visibility/graphics settings, you can use View template to assign it to the call-out view.

If you just want to create a new view look exactly like the other but with a different view crop, then use Duplicate as a Dependent. This method is widely used when you have a large master view showing the entire floor and you need to create several smaller views of certain areas to place on sheets.

Doesn't that seem a little wasteful though? Why doesn't the callout tool have that option.

If I'm saying, hey I want a callout of this, shouldn't the callout show exactly that? I get that its good that it can start a whole new fresh view, but it should also be capable of taking a snap of what its drawn on. Doesn't make sense to me.

Call-out tool is mainly to create a large scale view of an area from a smaller scale view. Create a call-out view that carries all the annotation of the parent view goes against the standard practice of avoiding duplication of content.

Anyways, you can create a View Template based on what you want (or based exactly on the parent view in your case) and set the call-out view type to always that template. Next time the call-out you create will be using the View Template automatically and will look exactly like the parent view.

It makes sense that the callout does not carry over the annotations, because the reason for the callout is to show something else, more information, at another scale. Annotation is view specific, also. If you want the same annotation content, you need to duplicate the view with detailing; that will carry over all the annotations.

Something else good to keep in mind with callouts is that they should be of the Floor Plan type, not detail. If you do it as a detail and you discover later that you need to manipulate the view range of the view, you won't be able to use it, and you won't be able to convert the callout from one type to the other.
