Callout Head

Is anyone familiar with changing the Callout Head. I'm trying to edit so that the callout head doesn't automatically populate the sheet but it doesn't seem to let me add a shared parameter label.

What do you mean by "callout head doesn't automatically populate the sheet"? Do you mean the Sheet number inside the callout? And no, you cannot add a shared parameter to a Callout family. What exactly do you want your callout heads to show?

what i mean is that i do not want the callout head to populate the sheet automatically. I want to be able to edit the callout based on the user preference. please see attached pictures.

Edit the family of the callout head (save it as a new family) then use/make a head but instead of the parameter "sheet number" which is in the default label use a "text parameter" thats what would be then called a dummy tag

to check which callout head is being used, select the callout > on the properties palette go to Edit Type > and click your way through to the type of head used...once you figure out which is being used, open family editor to edit/create new and once done load in back to the project and set it in place of the default one.

if you search this board you will find lots of threads on dummy tags if you want to start one up from scratch

cheers

Thank you for your response. The only options i see are in the attached jpeg. I am editing a family from the project browser named Callout Head. When I right click--> edit, this is what is shown as my options.

@Anonymous chill mate, he is just trying to help you

See attached file... is this what you want?

The default callout head doesn't have text...you need to change category and add text parameter. As I've said above it is a dummy tag (Something which I neither like nor encourage)

Hope this helps..

Cheers

So asking you to clarify your need is rude and unhelpful?  Welcome to the real world I guess.

You lose all parametric capability of the callout head, but if you want to, just simply, edit the family, re-save, and remove the labels, then type in the text in your project.

Please see my screencast and mark this as a solution!!!!!!!

As long as one can keep track of it, it is BIM alright...BIM was there before parametrical modeling.

This is true.  I had some AutoCAD projects with dynamic blocks with fields and attributes that contain far more building information than some Revit projects in our office.
