I need to create custom section, view, and callout tags per a client's standard. However, the tag is rectangular in shape and the leader starting point does not touch the tag. See screen capture.
I know that the leader starting point extends radially from the origin point in the family. But first of all I do not understand what defines how far from the origin point the leader starts at? In this family, the leader won't touch the tag if it's on the top, bottom or right of the callout and if its to the right the leader starts inside the tag. Why isn't the leader starting at the point since that is the farthest location from the origin where a line exists.
Does anyone know a work around to make these work?
AFAIK, leaders originate at the center of family elements or the intersection of reference planes wich defines origin. The family you shared have all ref planes blocked, so I can't change them in order to prove this. There is a workaround to address this by moving or putting an always-invisible element above (or below) your tag to bring the center back to the arrow/triangle.
The reference planes are "locked" because reference planes aren't able to be created in that family category. The reference planes were pasted in from a view title family and do not allow their properties to be modified.
i do not understand what you mean about an invisible element below the tag. Masking regions don't have forward and back controls so a masking region just masks over my tag lines when pushed into a project. And that doesn't change the behavior of the leader. I can create a shape with invisible lines but that doesn't help either. invisible lines
