Calculate curved surface area

HI All,

I'm trying to use material take off to generate the surface area, but when I running the material take off it will get the total area of each side (inside surface and outside surface).

because I just want to get the outside surface area. What can I do for this task or I missing some setting?

I know if this is a flat surface (eg.Wall) it can use the (PT) function to print the material on the selected surface, then generate the material take off but

curved surface I can't do this.

Thanks!

Tony

Could you post the family itself?

Is this a furniture component? Architectural element?

You only posted a screenshot, can you post the actual family, sowe can have a look?

Aside from being in the Generic Model category, what is the purpose of this family? Furniture, architectural?

You can use the painted surface tool in the family editor.

In the project you'll be able to create a material take-off for the generic model category.

 Hello
We are also using this method for extracting the surface area of generic models but may be there is something wrong because for cross verify we had just make one
generic model of 3'-0"X3'-0"x3'-0" and we had applied one surface paint material only so by manually calculation the surface area of one side it will be 9sf but
revit give us the 54sf. We dont know whats going wrong. please help us.Generic Model.PNGMaterial Takeoff.PNG

It works here.  I painted one face of a 10x10x10 cube and it reported 100 SF of the paint material  correctly.

Hello, I am trying to get the area of a surface from my generic model family. I used this method it worked perfectly but my question is, can I do this with dynamo (select all the faces and get the area) without doing one by one? because my project contains a lot of families and it takes a lot of time to get the areas one by one.
