CAD Link - Current View Only

Hello all,

I am using Revit 2019 and I am getting a strange behaviour that I think was not happening in earlier versions.

I have linked a CAD survey ("Current View Only" and "Orient to View" options unchecked) and acquired the coordinates.

If I delete the link and relink it using shared coordinates and "Current View Only" and "Orient to view" unchecked, it comes into the right place.

However, if I link it with: "Current view only" checked + Shared coordinates + "Orient to view" unchecked it comes with the wrong angle.

Am I missing something? I have never had this problem before Revit 2019.

Any help is welcome

I reply to myself...

Apparently, if I link a CAD in "current view only" I have to change the view to Project North before linking it. :denkendes_Gesicht:

Likely CAD North is at 12 o'clock.  Seldom do I see it any other way.

...just to  be clear about what I'm saying: if North is at 12 o'clock in the CAD, and you have True North set up in your Project, then you would want to Link the CAD into a True North view.

When you link with the box Current View only checked, the CAD geometry comes in as 2d detail lines, so the shared coordinates have no effect.

Surveys are always linked to Active View Only using Shared coordinates and View is set to Project North.

The linked CAD will not align properly if the View is set to True North and the Link settings are:

  1. Current View unchecked + Shared Coordinates + Orient to view CHECKED
  2. Current View Checked + Shared Coordinates ("orient to view" not applicable/greyed out)

What has no effect when "Active View Only" is the Orient to view check box...it will be greyed out and always on
