I think you hammer this out pretty quickly with HatchKit.

Yeah I tried that all day yesterday, just couldn't work it out. Every time I clicked features I need, it came up with a Need full version text. I think I need the full license to make it work.

I've got a mental block on this, just cant seem to find a solution.

Hope someone can help me.

Try PyRevit--it's free, and has a fill pattern generator. Not sure it will work on your example, but worth a shot.

It has a lot of other great tools as well which makes it worth the download/install.

...funny, I can't even find any flooring/tiling manufacturers that produce that pattern, nor any as-built photos showing that design.

I know, this interior designer in our office came up with it. Anyway, ill wait and see if anything pans out.

Just to clarify that there should be no problem creating that pattern with HatchKit, this was done with HatchKit's Brick and Tile feature then rotated 45 degrees:

Hugh, seriously man you are a life saver !!! thank you so much mate...

You have no idea how much time I spent on this, it was doing my head in...lol...

I tried it on Hatchkit, it didn't work for me. I had the trial version though.

Just curious how that pattern looks different from the one I posted?

...nevermind. My blurry and bloodshot eyes deceived me.

@hugha: I wonder if I could impose on you. I cannot get there with my HatchKit build 3.1.7.2627.  What version did you use?  Think you could walk me through all settings? I'd be very appreciative. Thanks in advance.

Not 100% sure but maybe, It looks like we both missed this part

*Doubled250x1000mmHerringbone,RIGHT-HAND 250mmx1000mm weave=2/2

The standard herringbone is a piece of cake but the double length version I am after that Hugh made has that additional line.

Happy to help.

HatchKit Trial contains the free HatchKit Demonstration Version.  This provides all HatchKit functionality but places a watermark on all created patterns so is not intended for production purposes.

BTW anyone requiring assistance in fill pattern construction is most welcome to contact its authors using the link at the bottom of the "About HatchKit"  panel accessible from HatchKit's Help Menu.

thank you

Hugh Adamson

Well, I've  got a  bone fide license -- albeit a couple of years old  --  and, heck if can figure out what you did.  I'm thinking HatchKit has a better version available that capable of do this. Either that, or I'm stupid as the day is long.   Smiley (zwinkernd)

Happy to. Version is as mentioned within the pattern header but there is little difference between that version and the version that you have.  BTW you can freely update to the latest version here:  http://hatchkit.com.au/reissueform.php

As to how to create herringbone patterns :

  • Open HatchKit
  • File>New>Brick/Tile
  • select Herringbone tab
  • fill in parameters:
  • save

Rotate the pattern 45 degrees either within HatchKit itself, within the HatchKit Add-In for Revit after loading the fill to a project or use Revit's ability to adjust model pattern instances.
