I`m using building pad tool, to modify an topo surface, but he is not calculating the modified volume on site, someone knows how to solve this?

Steps:
- Create a topo under existing
- Go to a new phase, use Grade Region tool, choose create a complete copy of the topo
- Create building pads under new phase
- Create a topography schedule under new phase to report cut/fill

Hi,

I am having an issue and was wondering if you can help. (In Revit) We are digging in an existing sloped topography (which we created from surveyor's information) for a new construction, we then created a building pad, and then started to  modify "dig" around our new building to uncover windos and balconies.

Now we want to calculate the average grade to know how much further we can dig around the building.

My cut/fill numbers of the building pad in the schedule won't change whenever I modify my topography in new phase, I've tried everything i can think of. It stays at near 110 617CF no matter what. I have a very pretty complex and sloped topography with three split surfaces, and the building pad is 10 feet around my building with an offset of 10". I have done what is described in this conversation (Put the topography to existing, and created a graded one in the new phase). Basically we just want to know the average grade line of what we're digging for the project, but whenever I lower or raise my topography "points" around my building, the Numbers of the pad don't change in the Schedule for our calculations. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you

I think we got it, the pad Numbers update themselves only when we re-create a graded topography in new phase from the existing one for some Reason, but the Numbers dont change live as we modify the topography still, but anyway we'll take we Revit gives us.

I just went through this process and the pads are not reporting cut and fill volumes. The existing orginal topo will show cut and fill number fields after the topo is copied, but the values are all 0. The new pad topography surfaces have no cut and fill numbers at all

I'm having the same problem. The first pads i've made work correctly, but the last ones doesn't calculate the cut.Screenshot_12.jpg

Thanks, i alreay done... but it doesn't work for me, it keeps appearing in 0 cut, 0 fill, Net & fill.

Hello to all.

I'm actually having exactly the same problem. I've used pads, graded regions etc before and it worked fine but now the new pads don't report to the topography schedule at all.

Is there a solution to this?

I'm doing exactly this.

What I'm saying is that I've done that before and it worked but somehow this time it doesn't no matter how many times I model the topo. The schedule keep having zero net cut/fill.

Even when the graded region gets created and I change the elevation of points there is no results reflected on the schedules.

Is there a possibility this to be a system failure?

There are different Cuts and Fills in your schedule. If you don't know what is what then give them different Marks or Names and find out in the model.

- If you created a graded region identical from an existing topo then the Cut and Fill between them are 0.  Edit the graded region, change some points up and down then you will get non zero Cut and Fill.

- The topo generated by the building pad reports cut and fill created by the Building Pad interacting with the graded region.

Is the Pad is placed on the Graded Region Copy in a Phase following the Phase in which the Graded Region is Created? If so, the Pad's Topo Infill won't report cut/fill data.  There is a workflow to accomplish this, if you are interested.

Thank you all for your quick replies.

@ToanDN I'm doing the same thing as you, putting some indicators/names etc.. The weirdest thing is that even if I edit the graded region the cut/fill schedule is still 0.

@barthbradley The pads are placed on the graded region with the same phase. But I am interest in the workflow you're saying indeed.

Just to give the whole picture of this, I had a toposurface that was split in three plots. The first plot comes out right, with every cut/fill calculated. But in the other two nothing happens, it just stays 0. Could the problem be the fact that the topo is split? Should I create three different topos in the beginning without splitting? I used the split method so that all three plots share exactly the same edges.

Did you grade region before or after splitting the topo?

After! I split the topo in the existing phase and then greated each new graded region in the new construction phase.

Do you think that's the problem?

Actually I found where the issue lies. I merged the existing plots into one and then worked fine. I kept the new construction plots as separated but now I can count perfectly all the cuts/fills!

Can't understand though why is this happening but anyway, since it worked..
