This happened sometime between 2015 and 2018: if anything is selected in the PB, Revit is effectively locked up, as the Ribbon is dead. Have to click in the model to bring everything back to functionality.
Was this an intentional change? Really proving to be a major annoyance for us, having to remember to take an extra step all the time. Or is this a Windows 10 thing?

Have you tried Raid? If that fails: Do you have the most current build of 2018? Dot 2? Or tried Repair?

It maybe one of the incompatibility bugs with Windows 10, even though the OS was introduced way back in 2015. Anyways, it has been fixed for Revit 2019.
Well, hell! My firm only upgrades Revit every three years...and we JUST went to 2018.
We will be well-trained in clicking twice, and will have to un-train ourselves in 2021!
