I have been trying to import a TIN surface with outer boundaries (3d polylines) created in Civil 3d into Revit for Topography Surface generation. Such boundaries were ignored during the process causing the region of the created Topography Surface was extended. Therefore, I have to do manual editing using the "Split Surface" tool. For information, I follow the steps posted on You-Tube.
1. Why is the imported surface boundaries is at Level 1 or converted to 2d line as in the attachment?
2. Can I modify the max. triangles length and their angle?
3. Any other method for the above editing?
Appreciate if anyone can guide me with explanations. Many thanks.
Hi, thank you so much for the link and I have learnt something new. However, can I retain the surface boundaries same as what I have in Civil 3d? As I know, Revit will automatically define the boundaries based on the internal points generated.
I'm gathering that the solution credit was pulled because the link I provided didn't do it for you.
One of the things the article says is: "Do make sure that you now select the Layer where the 3D faces (triangulation) are positioned". This is referring the Layers shown in the "Add Points from Selected Layers" dialog box that pops up after you Select Import Instance. I think you selected unnecessary layers and that's where that lower polyline is coming from. The only box that should be checked is the one next to the triangulation layer name. All others should be unchecked.

Again, I think your issue is due to what I stated above. If not, I'm not clear what you mean by "retain the surface boundaries same as what I have in Civil 3d".
