I currently work at an arch. firm that uses AutoCAD.
I want to learn Revit in my free time since most of the other firm we work with use it.
I can not find a way to get Revit for more than 30 days with out paying $1,500.
is this true?
if so, shame on Autodesk.
They do have an educational license which they acctually offer to students and tutors for free (or used to at least) as long as they have proof that they are students or tutors working at a registered educational institutions.
Did you try and check on the Educational Community forum to see if you could fit the criterea in any way?

After the trial period is over, you still can still use Revit and all of the tools for learning. You can't just save or print. There are some tutorials that provide files for working with for each section. It is possible to do these courses and self learning without these functions. You just can't build a project unless you leave Revit open until you finish.
You can blame Autodesk on many things but you cannot blame them for not letting you use Revit after the 30-day trial. It is the trial policy that everyone knows from the get go. And how can they know if someone is using it for learning versus working?
As mentioned, you can use it as long as you want without saving, exporting, or printing. That should be fine for learning, shouldn't it?
