BIM 360 icon doesn't show up in Revit 2020 'open' dialogue box

I have a model that I have saved up to BIM 360 through my account and the Collaborate function of Revit 2020. There is no problem on my end and everything seems to work fine. I invited a member to the project and gave her permissions to work on the file. Unfortunately when she goes to open the file via the BIM 360 icon inside the Revit open diagoue box there is no BIM 360 icon for her to do that so she has no access to the file. I then noticed that I don't have a BIM 360 icon in my open dialogue box either. Does anyone know why this is? How is one to open the file if there is no BIM 360 icon to network over to it (and don't use Desktop Connector through your PC directory as that will open it in a non-worksharing way!)?

I have Revit 2020 on subscription but due to the REVIT INSTALLATION BUG my Revit 2020 was placed in viewer mode and I had to apply the temporary fix (there is still no fix to the VIEWER MODE bug!) that is listed elsewhere in this forum (it puts your Revit in "Trial mode"). Is it possible that Trial versions don't have access to the BIM 360 icon and therefore no BIM 360?

I will note that in Revit 2019 all of this worked flawlessly!

This is really frustrating as I have paid for Revit 2020 and have BIM 360 and neither work! Not sure if this makes any difference but in my installed programs directory of Windows 10 I see that Autodesk Collaboration for Revit 2019 is installed but there is not the same for Revit 2020. There is Autodesk Cloud Models for Revit 2020 installed but I'm not sure how that works with someone trying to open a cloud-shared file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I looked through both of those earlier and both of them seem to refer to earlier Revit versions. My Revit 2020 doesn't have the Autodesk collaboration to uninstall. I have it for 2019 but not for 2020. And I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Revit 2020 so I doubt reinstalling it is going to help all of a sudden "install" Autodesk Collaboration" at this point. Honestly, I'm not sure if the Autodesk Collaboration program is still a separate component in Revit 2020.....

For Revit 2020 or later, the original BIM 360 entrance in the Open dialog has been removed, since non-workshared cloud model won’t be supported in the original entrance and new Cloud Model Browser provides more intuitive features.

You will be able to browse and open file just at Revit Home page.

Okay, thanks Jade. That seems to answer the question. We had another user who for some reason the BIM 360 wasn't showing up there. It is now though!

Thanks for your help.

If this is the case, then how would I open multiple cloud workshared files at the same time?  I have several projects with linked models and I was able to before, just use the BIM360 icon and browse to the other files.. now with a file open, and that icon gone.. I can't get back to the Home page unless I close the other file..

Nevermind.. it's a silly flow.. but if I go up to the top of the screen and hit the Home icon (upper left of screen next to the "R" icon, then I can get back to the Home and open the other file..

We should be able to add this to our Quick Access Toolbar..

What about when the BIM 360 icon doesn’t appear under recent files as is shown in your picture? The user has access to the model and can see it in the BIM 360 website. Other users are able to access the model as well.

Hi @BethEvanoo

It is abnormal. Please check your network and if the account has log in correctly.

Exactly the same problem at our office. Multiple users have brand new Revit 2020 installation on the same brand new machines. The same Permission Levels on docs.b360. Everyone can see the project on the web. Only some can see it available in Revit.

I've checked the user log in. They have permission to View/Download+Upload+Edit on the folder (FolderControl.jpg). They are logged in with that email (see SignedIn_UserName.png), and still no BIM 360 showing on the Home screen (see SignedIn_Home Screen.png).

I put in an Autodesk support request, and in working through the issue with the rep, the following workflow solved the problem for this user.

  1. Remove the user's BIM 360 entitlement. (Has to be done by the account manager.)
  2. Wait 2-5 minutes
  3. Re-apply the entitlement to the user.
  4. Have the user log out of all Autodesk software.
  5. Log back in
  6. See if this restored access.

How many licenses of BIM360 do you have? You need one license per user.

Hey Beth, what was your solution to this?

Click Refresh at the bottom of the screen and did it appear? Then users could do their first load of the project?

Thx.

Hi Ian,

Look at message 13 of this thread for the solution. I had to remove the user's entitlement, then reassign them before they were able to see the project in the 2020 home screen. Kind of a "try turning it off and on again" for BIM 360. Hope this helps you.

I am having the "BIM 360 project menu isn't appearing even though I'm signed in and have permission" issue as well.
When I click on the project from the "recents" menu, since it is there, it tells me to sign in (odd, considering I am signed in, and again, I have permission both for BIM 360 and for the project in question). I tried the workflow in response 13, but got no results.
However, if unassign my priveleges and reassign them to the account admin instead, and sign in as that username, it works. But that's not me. That is a temporary solution for today.

Is there something else that can be done?

What version of Revit (Help button pull-down, "About Autodesk Revit ...")?

Are you able to log into the BIM 360 site and see the project and the Revit file you are trying to access within Document Management?

I had the same problem - But the only thing missing was my Autodesk Desktop Connector was uninstalled. So I was unable to communicate with the cloud.
