BIM 360 - Can I host 2020 models to a BIM 360 hub for 2019 models?

Context on this post is that I am trying to use an existing BIM 360 for additional models I am creating.

The existing BIM 360 is made for 2019 models and the new models are in 2020.

My assumption is that the version year of Revit shouldn't matter for BIM 360 since it's all internet.

I would like to think I can add 2020 Revit models to a BIM 360 made for 2019 but I never tried it out.

Any body have experience with this?

I can clarify if the question doesn't make sense.

Technically no problem.

You only have to manage and control the use of which files by which versions

I tried testing this by uploading a model.

The hub is BIM 360 version 2019 and the new model is upgraded to Revit 2020.

I opened this model and went to collaborate > collaborate in cloud > BIM 360 > Company folder.

Then it comes up with a blank.

No projects or folders to choose from.

That was my indication that something was not compatible.

Did I miss a setting or step to get the 2020 model uploaded to the 2019 BIM 360?

EX: My session below showing the blank project selection under the company account:

Aha now it's different. You didn't mention that it's upgraded model.

To upgrade a current BIM 360 file use steps in below link.

That article was helpful.

I understand that you can't open a BIM 360 hub with 2019 files using Revit 2020 for example.

And it also looks like you can't upload a Revit 2020 model to a 2019 version BIM 360.

There is no hosting 2019 and 2020 central models on the same hub because only one version is allowed.

Both the model and the BIM 360 hub have to be the same year version to work.

In that case you would have to upgrade all the models to the same version year.

So the next step would be taking all the 2019 BIM 360 models and upgrading them to make the BIM 360 hub version 2020. Then I can add more version 2020 models.

Did I explain that correctly?

No I think you misunderstood the point.

Let me explain:

1-your hub can have any version in parallel.

2- 2019 files will only show in revit 2019

2- 2020 files will only show in revit 2020

3- 2019 files need to be upgraded in a certain way which was described in the link to be able to see them in revit 2020.

@thakopian

You should be able to publish/host  your Revit 2020 model...however; from the information you have provided it appears that you did not save and publish the model to the cloud.

would you be able to describe your workflow … after you upgraded the model to 2020 and saved on your local drive...

  1. did you create a new project on the hub?? >>
  2. did you saved as the subject Revit model to cloud??
  3. did you publish  it?>>… has it been confirmed that it was published successfully?
  4. Was it a workshared or non-workshared model
