Best way to zone a site: rooms?

Hello,

I'm working on a signage plan for a construction site. The signage thing I've got solved... generic markers here and there with sign codes (=type mark), and then a schedule with images. Done, it looks like this:

markers1.JPG

markers2.JPG

Only problem is I've got around 75 signs to place, all over the site. And if I make the safety staff have to deal with a bunch of model codes distributed over one huge site plan, they might just kill me.

So, what I plan to do is keep the schedule, but segregated by moderately-sized zones. So the schedule would tell them in zone 1 install these signs, and they can go right to the plan, look up the zone, and see where exactly it goes. And if necessary, I'll do a few dependent views to create zoom-ins for each zone.

I'm thinking the easiest way to do this on the schedule would be to use rooms. Place a room separator around each zone, place a room, and then schedule the markers by room. If I move a sign from one place to another, I don't have to worry about updating the zone data, it auto updates from the room.

Aside from that use, I'm not using rooms for anything else currently, and I doubt I'll have to use them for anything else in this case.

Could that be the best solution, or is these an easier way I'm not seeing?

Curbs as Room Bounding? Could work.
